1. Hydrocephalus- this is the build up of fluid in the ventricles deep in the brain. The ventricles increase in size due to the excess fluid which then puts pressure on the brain. It can occur at any age but is more common with infants and older adults.
2. Carpal Tunnel- progressively painful hand and arm condition due to a pinched nerve in the wrist. With proper treatment pain and numbness can usually be relieved and normal usage of the hands and wrists can be restored. 3. Multiple Sclerosis- this is an immune system attack against the central nervous system. Mild symptoms may include numbness in the limbs; or they can be severe like paralysis or loss of vision. 4. Alzheimer's- a type of dementia that causes memory loss, problems with thinking and behavior. This is a progressive disease that is not normal with aging. 5. Epilepsy- this is a medical condition that causes a seizure disorder. The seizures are unprovoked and can last a few seconds or a few minutes. |
6. Meningitis- inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. It can be caused by viral, bacterial, or fungal infections. Meningitis can get better on its own or it can be life threatening.
7. Parkinson's Disease- a progressive nervous system disorder that effects movement. There is not a cure but some medications may improve symptoms. 8. Bell's Palsy- unexplained weakness or paralysis of facial muscle. It begins suddenly and worsens over 3 to 5 days. It can happen at any age but is most common in pregnant women or diabetics. 9. Brain Tumor- abnormal growth of tissue in the brain. It can start in the brain or originate from another part in the body and spread to the brain. 10. Migraine- causes intense throbbing or a pulsing sensation in one area of the brain. It is common for most people to have nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound when they have a migraine. |
